Responses to the Resurrection
by Rev. Jan Magiera

Each one of the people who first saw Jesus alive and heard about the empty tomb had a choice of whether to deal with their emotions or not. There are wonderful passages in the gospels of the disciples being set free from sorrow, grief, confusion, guilt and fear. That is the power of the resurrection which each of us continues to be able to have in our lives because HE IS RISEN!

Communion

The finished work of Jesus Christ is memorialized by the communion that he instituted with his disciples. As we reflect upon his broken body and shed blood, we claim to ourselves physical wholeness and forgiveness, and the victory we all share as One Body.

Devotional Bible Study Part 2
by Jan Magiera

This week we are looking at how to ask questions to make a bridge between the meaning of a verse and application. We can put a verse and its context through PACES, which is a simplified list of questions (see handout). The passage we were investigating as a group was Psalm 107:20 and the workshop study was on Deuteronomy 30:14.

Meditate on God's Word

Christian meditation means to fill the mind with God's instruction. It also includes verbalization, as well as brooding over, contemplating or mulling. Psalm 1 describes the man who delights and chooses to do this as a fruitful tree, planted in a garden.

Love Your Enemies
by Jeanie Lindfelt

There are three practical steps on how to love our enemies or those who have wronged us. (Luke 6:27)

  1. Pray, allow God to minister in the situation rebooting your brain to avenues of love.
  2.  Do good to them, instead of going around telling others about the person, living love moves your heart to avenues of grace: give, forgive.
  3. Change your perspective: We wrestle not against flesh and blood.

Jesus forgave his enemies on the cross and said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” “For the joy that was set before him, he endured the cross”. His vision was doing the will of the Father and showing his love for us. God will help you get a better perspective when going through a hurt or conflict.

Let’s reduce our lives to love. The love of God evaporates the bitterness, hurt, envy, strife so we can be kind one to another, tender-hearted forgiving one another even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you. And be imitators of God as dear children.

Selfless Love
by Rev. Bob Lindfelt

The world says, "follow your heart." This statement has ruined many lives, especially if they do not have a relationship with the Heavenly Father. Who we follow is the Lord Jesus Christ and live His kind of love, selfless love.

Lessons from a Toddler
by Joyell Nevins

There are so many great things to be learned from observing and interacting with children. My relationship with my one-year-old niece has allowed me a great opportunity to deepen my thankfulness for simple spiritual truths. Some of these are "don't look back or you will fall" and "rise back up when you fall" and "the joy of the moment."

Getting Back to the Basics
by Kelly Prendiville

We need to remember that God has called us to a relationship with Him and He is a jealous God, not wanting us to worship anything other than Him. The teaching explains what godly jealousy is and that we should put God first in our lives. His love is unconditional but His promises are conditional on our choices.
