The Power of Community Prayer
by Rev. Bob Lindfelt

The record in Acts 12 depicts one of the most critical events in the early Church. Herod has killed James and now has put Peter in jail with the intent to do away with the leadership of the Christian movement. God's word declares that the believers got together to pray for the situation. God works in a phenomenal way to deliver Peter. Groups of believers praying together sees great movements of God. Community prayer unleashes God's power in many wonderful ways.

Keeping Your Life Simple
by Rev. Barney Barnhart

Acknowledging that there are many things in "the world" that can keep us distracted and occupied, our desire can be to keep a simple understanding of who we are and where we are. Then we can effectively carry God's heart and love, bringing hope and Christ to the lost.

Unity of the Spirit
by Rev. Jan Magiera

Endeavoring to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace is a hot topic these days. How can we do this? The Aramaic word auyutha has an underlying action verb that means "to turn to a person with interest and affection." Two key passages are explored about putting on the mind (heart) of Christ in Philippians 3 and Jude 11.

Dealing with Offense
by Katie Jeltema

Joseph is a great example of someone who had a right to be offended in numerous situations, but continued to look to God's view and answers in each case. When we are confronted with the temptation to be offended, what can we do? We can always walk with the love of God and forgive. This teaching offers many practical keys of the "how" of dealing with offense in ourselves and others.

Love without Hypocrisy
by Rev. Barney Barnhart

The love of God has no hypocrisy in it and we should challenge ourselves to be transformed by this love. Hypocrisy is putting on a mask and not revealing true love. I Corinthians 13 is the banner chapter to help us identify the characteristics of love. In verses 4-7 there are 15 qualities that are worth noting and "putting on".

God's Wisdom
by Vicki Barnhart

The wisdom of God exceeds and surpasses the conventional wisdom of man. Perspective given to us by our father gives us His view of things. As we humbly and genuinely seek Him, His wisdom will gently lead and guide us so we can enjoy His goodness day by day.

Overcoming Fear and a Grasshopper Mentality
by Rev. Jan Magiera

Fear can come from the inside or outside and can be real or imagined. When the spies went into the land to see what it was like in Numbers 13, only Joshua and Caleb came back with a good report. The other 10 spies caused the people to fear by comparing themselves to the giants as grasshoppers. Fear can be overcome by applying 2 Tim 1:7 because we have power (the name of Jesus Christ), God's love and promises of protection, and sound guidance and instruction (the mind of Christ). Romans 8:31-37 summarizes how these work together.

Overcoming the Battle with Discouragement
by Rev. Jan Magiera

A study of Psalm 73 with Asaph, the Levite singer, discussing his battle with discouragement. He decides to go in the sanctuary of God and there finds that God has been holding his hand all the time and will guide him with His counsel. He understands the end of the wicked who are prospering and draws near to God to find the rest he needs. A parable about the "evil rock-throwers" illustrates the dilemma of every Christian. But Jesus Christ overcame all.

Your Best Friend and Pentecost
by Rev. Bob Lindfelt

There is nothing like having a best friend to encourage you and comfort you during challenging times. As a born again one, you have the spirit of God abiding in you. Jesus called it the "comforter." What is a comforter, but one who is your best friend there to encourage and help you all the time. Using the gift of holy spirit with its nine manifestations should be a resource we use all the time, not just on Sundays. We need to remember the magnitude of what we have inside us and realize it is your very best friend.

Are You Expecting?
by Jeanie Lindfelt

What kind of expectations do we have? God promises He will do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think (Eph 3:20). So we should ask for the impossible and hold onto that expectation, pursue it and not let go until we see the result.

Servant Leadership
by Steve Carter

Servant leadership is not about authority and control as is typified in worldly situations. Jesus Christ declared and exemplified the heart of a servant leader as revealed in Matthew 20:25-28: "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Leadership in the world tends to take ownership, but Jesus humbled himself to God and said, "I can of mine own self do nothing." We, too, can live and serve with humility and love as we seek God's will and realize that we owe our entire existence to Him. Steve expounds this topic while posing the questions, "Whose am I? Who am I? Who are they?"

Christ the Firstfruits Offering
by Rev. Jan Magiera

The first appearances of Jesus Christ after his resurrection were to Mary Magdalene and the other women. While it is yet dark, Jesus tells Mary Magdalene that she should not touch him and that he is ascending to his Father. Then later after the sun has already risen, Jesus appears to the other women and they clasp his feet. What is the difference that he allows the women later to touch him?

In between, Jesus as the high priest passes through the heavens to present himself to God as the firstfruits of those who have died and the firstborn from the dead. This wave offering parallels exactly what is going on in the temple at the morning sacrifice. This presentation is for our acceptance and justification and so that we can have peace and boldness. Those who believe that God raised Christ from the dead are then entitled to all the fullness of his inheritance.

Meaning of Passover -- A Love Story
by Trish Barbera

The children of Israel were in cruel bondage under the Egyptians and had lost sight of their identity as God's beloved chosen people. Many years of slavery and oppression had caused anguish and broken-heartedness with no vision of hope for the future. God instituted the first Passover at the culmination of the ten plagues that ravaged Egypt and He protected them from the final plague when the destroyer killed the firstborn of every household not covered by the sprinkled blood of the Passover lamb. We are covered by the sprinkled blood of Jesus Christ our Passover and have been rescued from the bondage of sin and death.

Perfect God, Perfect Prayer
by Rev. Barney Barnhart

God has given the Christian a perfect resource to talk with him: speaking in tongues. We are God's masterpiece and He created us in Christ Jesus to have spiritual communication with Him via speaking in tongues. We need to realize the importance and benefits of speaking in tongues and not get talked out of this privilege to speak divine secrets with God.

A Fixed Heart
by Rev. Jan Magiera, Andrew McGarry

A fixed heart is one where we prepare ourselves to be trusting God in the middle of any type of situation. We began in Ps 57:7, 8 and looked at Ps 112:7,8. Fixed means to be steadfast, stable, firm and established like a seed planted in the ground. And we will do this because of God's lovingkindness and faithfulness surrounding us. The record about King Asa is a good example of someone who prepared their heart. The end result is praise and halleluyahs to God Most High.

Count It All Joy
by Larry Barnickel

In the midst of trials and tribulations we can have joy, knowing that as we patiently endure and diligently seek God, we will receive His solution to the challenges we face (Romans 5:1-4; James 1:2-4). As God revealed to the Apostle Paul in a time of great trial, His strength is made perfect in our weakness. So with obedient hearts and patient expectation that He will provide the answers, we can joyfully anticipate that God will "unscramble the eggs" of the trials of our lives!

God's Plan or Mine
by Jeanie Lindfelt

My heart today is to show you from the scriptures that God has a plan for you and me. He takes ordinary people and makes them extraordinary, super heros, men and women who walk and talk and represent God's Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We will look at the lives of Abraham and Sarah; Joseph, the Apostle Paul and then you and me. They all had the opportunity to live by their own course or accept the plan God had for them. God is calling us to service and communion with Him. When we allow the Father to work His plan in us: "of peace not evil, to give us an expected end, a future and a hope", our joy will be full. Jeremiah 29:11
