HEROES
This time of the year, with the recent celebration of the 4th of July, we think about our country’s heroes. Everyone loves heroes! We read from books about what it takes to accomplish good and righteous things, but when others rise to the occasion to perform them and go beyond the call of duty, setting examples for all of us, we cherish them. We just love heroes!
American Heroes
As American citizens, we have grown up revering our brave and dedicated forefathers such as Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Lincoln and many others. These heroes shaped our country that we enjoy today. It seems we have never been short of men and women of exceptional character to set the pace for our country.
In spite of current “Nay Sayers” condemning these giants of America, I still believe knowledgeable and caring citizens are very grateful for the countless heroes who have dedicated their lives for a better America.
None of these heroes were perfect, but we can disavow their errors to celebrate their courage to make and keep our nation free.
The Greater Heroes
There is another category of heroes that have a Godly vision for the well-being of all mankind.
Jesus Christ
Truly He is the hero of all heroes! Mankind cannot find anyone else that has accomplished more and given more to bring deliverance and happiness to all people.
Romans 3:22-24:
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
You and I
You and I as sons of God filled with the power of the holy spirit have been set apart with a great calling. As we follow and do what God’s Word says, we become true heroes.
We are ambassadors for the Lord Jesus Christ. We have the ministry of reconciliation and the word of reconciliation to bring others out of the darkness of their worldly life unto the glorious light of eternal life.
II Corinthians 5:18-20:
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
Do not stop revering our heroes especially the Lord Jesus Christ. Realize your unique calling in the Body of Christ. We all have an exciting life of service as we wait for His return. Immerse yourself into being the incredible spiritual heroes of our times.
