There are many kinds of witnesses or testimonies. The word picture for testify is "to see or experience the door" and to repeat something. We can be eye-witnesses when we speak about something that happened to us personally. Or we can witness about something that happened to someone else. Another kind of witness is a character witness as in Hebrews 11:4 about Abel. Other kinds of things are testimonies, too: songs, artwork, stones, the sun and moon. But the greatest witness we have in ourselves and that was made available on the day of Pentecost -- we can speak in tongues (Romans 8:16, 17).
