Jesus spoke to his disciples and said, "All authority is given me in heaven and earth, And as my Father sent me, I send you..." Matthew 28-18-20.
Jesus gave his disciple the authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kind of diseases. He commanded them to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely they had been give the authority and power, freely they were to exercise it.
God gave Moses the rod to represent his authority to release the children of Israel from Egypt.
