Fire is often used negatively to promote fear, but God uses it as the indication of His presence working in our lives. This is the reason for the cloven tongues of fire on Pentecost.
Fire represents:
-- the fulfilment of His promises and covenants -- as with Abraham
-- a new commission for us to walk out on -- as with Moses
-- an indication of His protection and guidance -- as the pillar of fire in the desert
--showing His desire to communicate with His people -- as on Mount Sinai with the giving of the Law
-- an acknowledgment of His acceptance and peace -- as with Gideon
We are clothed with power from on high!
