A number of months ago in the fellowships we worked on a way to study the scriptures called the "meditative method." The general mechanics of this form of study was to break down the words in a verse and define them according to one's own vocabulary and in light of Biblical usage. In doing this the appreciation of the scope of understanding can grow richly and a clearer picture begins to form.
As other translations are brought to light and noted we are encouraged to mull over and meditate on the verse itself and the individual words in the verse. Finally the encouragement is to write out your own translation incorporating all of the specific meanings of the words and gleaning from the other translations.
The following translation by Barney Barnhart is a summary in his own words of Phil. 4:19.
"On top of this, my God, the God of me, the creator and owner of all, will fill me to the full all that is needed for me to live graciously and abundantly. It is all according to (or down from) the exceeding riches and resources at his disposal in heaven, which I am now entitled to as a benefactor of the loving and sacrificial work of Jesus Christ. He is blessed to do all of that just for me!"
