The Amazing Mustard Seed and Yes!!

Matthew 13:31-32 (NKJV)

³¹ Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, ³² which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”

Matthew 17:20 (ESV)

²⁰ He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Both here in Matthew 13 and in Matthew 17, Jesus uses the example of the mustard seed.  What was it about this little seed that was so important and powerful? Although the people to whom Jesus told the parables to knew what a mustard seed was, with advancements in science we can understand it even greater today. Isn’t that a beautiful thing about Jesus’ teaching? No matter how much science advances, Jesus’ teaching just expands with it and remains truth!!
So, what observations can we make about the mustard seed, other than it is very small?
