Right around this time of year many people think about planting gardens, trimming trees, seeding the lawn or maybe planning a household project or two.
Also, it is the season for what is commonly called “spring cleaning.” We go through (or sometimes procrastinate about it) closets, garages, basements, and yes, attics, sorting the things we have and then we can decide what to keep, give away or put in the trash. It’s like taking an inventory and choosing the value or usefulness of what we have and do “I really need it?”
Spiritually, this resurrection season can also be a time on inventory on our influences or even physical things that may be taking too much of our time and valuable energy.
It has been said, that “if we want to go and grow with God exponentially, we must learn to travel light. Yes, the physical things in our homes can definitely have an affect and it might be good to look at those, but I am talking more about the cares, concerns and burdens that can rob us of fully enjoying God’s blessings and peace in our day-to-day living.
