1)      Mtg. w/grandson, then college missionary students.   II Cor. 4:4 in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, - lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.   Omniscient - All knowing

2)     The psalmist declared in Ps. 119:105, - Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet & a light unto my path.   In that day, tiny oil lamps or rope with sparks lit the way.  We need the brightest light possible!  Jesus called himself “the light of the world.” In Jn. 8:12, with the second of seven “I am’s.”  He said, - "I am the light of the world." Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but have the light of life!  One teenage girl said, “I would rather walk with God in the dark, than walk alone in the light!”   We must trust God to illuminate our next step, NOT the entire journey all at once!    Like a miner’s hat, -Moses/Red Sea.

3)     Back in the early 1800’s a group of missionaries; - “One Way Missionaries” bought a One-Way ticket.  They planned on dying wherever God had called them to go.  A.W. Milne felt “called of God” went to New Hebrides islands in the south Pacific. EVERY missionary before him martyred!!!  But he set sail.

4)      John in Rev. 21:23, was shown a glimpse of the new Earth and said, “The city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon to shine in it: - for the GLORY of God did lighten it and the Lamb is the light thereof!   Man’s chief purpose is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever! Ecc.12:13

5)     Helen Keller was asked, “Is there anything worse than being blind?”  YES!  Someone who is sighted and yet has no vision! Prov. 29:18, Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed…

6)     Jm. 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from ABOVE, and cometh down from the FATHER OF LIGHT with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning.”  Shadows change… No changing for God,  No surprise party.   An omniscient God

7)     Dr. Donald Grey Barnhouse.  Funeral for his wife. His children in car crying.  Semi-truck comes alongside his car and casts a BIG shadow over his car.  In a profound moment of inspiration, Dr. Barnhouse asked his children, “Would you rather be run over by a truck or by its shadow?”  His oldest son answered, “by its shadow of course because it is harmless.!!!  Two thousand years ago, said the father, the truck ran over Our Lord Jesus in order that only its shadow might run over us.  For the Christian, he told his children, death is but a shadow.

8)      A.W Milne did get to the New Hebrides.  He didn’t get eaten by cannibals or martyred by tribesman.  He served for 35 years and died of natural causes.  The tribesmen buried him and erected a tombstone with this epitaph:  “When he came there was no light.  When he left, there was no darkness!            The most important thing in this world is to be prepared for the next!!!!                                                             Dan Mekus   7/28/2024
