The original Bill of Rights, consisting of the first 10 amendments of the US Constitution, enabled individual citizens to exercise our most cherished freedoms as Americans.  Today we, as born again ones,  are citizens of heaven and therefore have certain rights and privileges as well.    This sharing explores and proclaims 10 of those rights and exhorts each believer to exercise faith to appropriate them.

  1. As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ we have only one right: and that is to give up all rights to ourselves(2 Cor. 5:14-16 NKJV)
  2. We have the right to esteem others more highly than ourselves; and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Phil. 2:1-5).
  3. We have the right to bear one another’s burdens  (Gal. 6:1-3).
  4. We have the right to live and walk in unconditional, self-sacrificial love (Eph. 5:1-2; I John 4:7).
  5. We have the right to speak the truth of the gospel and bring others to a knowledge of Christ. (Acts 5:20; Eph. 4:15)
  6. We have the right to be “subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, to malign no one, to be uncontentious, gentle, showing every consideration for all men” (Titus   3:1-2).
  7. We have the right to pray without ceasing, with our understanding and by the spirit. (I Thess. 5:16-18)
  8. We have the right to pursue “the joy of the Lord” regardless of culture, laws or circumstances (Psalm 16:11).
  9. We have the right to march daily on our knees in prayer; praying for our leaders in government; our ministry leaders; our fellow believers; our families; and doors of utterance (1 Timothy 2:1-3)
  10. We have the right to live in the expectancy and hope of the Lord’s return (I Thess. 4)
